808,196 UAH FOR MENTAL HEALTH - RESULTS OF OUR CHARITY DINNER IN STOCKHOLM
On November 17th, we organized a charity dinner in Sweden, during which we once again addressed the importance of supporting the mental health and recovery of frontline medics.
Over 120 Swedes, Ukrainians, and other nationalities which included business men and women, entrepreneurs, politicians, diplomats, and representatives from other charitable organizations who support the cause in Ukraine gathered at our Ukrainian dinner in the heart of Stockholm.
Repower organizers helped create a genuine hub of Ukrainian culture in the capital city of Sweden. We brought authentic artworks from various parts of the country, found Ukrainian singers whose wonderful songs rang through the dining hall and complemented the atmosphere, added handmade embroidered napkins to the table settings (made by Ukrainian women and children), and delighted guests with delicious dishes with a Ukrainian touch.
The CHEF RECEIVED A STANDING OVATION
Thanks to the team of chefs, who traveled by train and car from Ukraine, from Set Catering led by Oleksiy Shpionov, guests were able to enjoy delicious Ukrainian dishes with a modern and sophisticated interpretation! These culinary masters have tirelessly prepared food since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, offering meals to those in need. Oleksiy, our head chef, transitioned from catering to providing food for those affected in Bucha. Their support is a testament to our mission - supporting the medics and doctors on the front lines.
Guests had the opportunity to savor the rich flavors of Ukrainian gastronomy. The menu included 3 types of appetizers, a salad with beets in honey-mustard sauce with homemade goat cheese and spinach. For the hot appetizer, baked Carpathian cheese with pepper and tomato tartare, as well as forest raspberry powder, was prepared. The main course featured mountain trout with Jerusalem artichoke puree, crab foam, and sea buckthorn sauce with preserved lemon, or veal steak with parsnip and celery puree, juniper sauce, and red Ukrainian wine. To conclude, our chefs prepared a special dessert with a layered taste, including a mix of apricots, dried apricots, whipped caramel, sponge cake, cream-chocolate mousse, and pumpkin seeds.
"I believe that this is a very important collaboration for the present and the future," Andrii Plakhotniuk said beginning the evening, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Ukraine to the Kingdom of Sweden.
SWEDISH EVENING WITH A UKRAINIAN SOUL
During the charity evening in Stockholm, Tymur Vasylyshyn professionally performed the national anthem of Ukraine, while Alona Silchuk and Oleksandr Popenko presented several highly emotional compositions by contemporary Ukrainian artists.
For the auction, we managed to gather unique products from Ukrainian artists, such as a forest trident from Kochut Jewelry, a painting in the Samchykiv style by Tetiana Skora, necklaces by Oksana Boryichuk, embroidered paintings with ornaments and symbols by Olena Pavlishyna, iconic postage stamps signed by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valeriy Zaluzhnyy "Glory to the Forces of Defense and Security of Ukraine," an embroidered shirt from Ethnodim, clay plates from the Crimean Tatar producer Ruslan Skybin, an "Iron Courage" cup from Ukrzaliznytsia, a bedspread from Gustsulshop, and unique photographs from Ukraine taken by Swedish documentalist Sebastian Lindstrom and Ukrainian videographer Mykola Kulina.
"It feels like we have gathered now as a very large Swedish-Ukrainian family around one big table and are sharing both joy and sorrow together," - Maryna Sadykova, founder of the charitable foundation "Repower."
In total, we managed to raise 808,196 UAH (~231,226 SEK) for the next rehabilitation project for a hundred Ukrainian medics! Each guest left the evening with a special gift - a hand-embroidered napkin from Ukrainian women and children. We succeeded in creating a Ukrainian evening even 2800 kilometers away from our home. Now we have at least 120 representatives of the Swedish community, guests of our evening, who have become true ambassadors of Ukraine in Sweden and Europe.
