How are the candidates selected for the Repower project
First of all, it is important to inform that we, the Repower Charitable Foundation, have no influence on the selection of specific candidates among military personnel. Instead, we form the selection criteria, which are indicated in point 4. The selection process itself takes place in several stages:
1. We send letters of request regarding the selection of candidates for a specific project to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the National Guard of Ukraine, the State Border Service of Ukraine;
2. The relevant Commands, in turn, send the appropriate request to military units of each branch and type of troops, depending on the available limits of participants and the proposed dates;
3. Representatives of regional departments, commanders, commanders or specialists in moral and psychological support decide who exactly should go to the project, who exactly is the contact person - depends on the specific Command;
4. We receive a list of candidates, personally contact each participant and check for compliance with the criteria of our requirements
5. We form the final list and, through the International Cooperation Department of the Medical Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, submit a letter to the Commander-in-Chief
6. After receiving approval from the Commander-in-Chief, we buy plane tickets and engage in further planning of the project.
How many participants are accepted for one project?
- For each Repower project, we have a certain limit of participants (Sweden 40-100 participants, Denmark 80-100 participants, Spain - 25 participants).
When is the selection process?
- It usually takes place 6-8 weeks before the start of the project. We inform about the specific selection period on our social networks.
How often are Repower projects held?
- We are working to obtain systemic funding and rehabilitate 100 military medics every month. Since December 2022, we have already organized 8 projects involving 600 participants.
What are the criteria for participating in the project?
Combat medics, stabilization point medics and doctors, case and medevac drivers who have been serving in the immediate vicinity of the front line for 60 days or more; - an urgent need for psychological recovery to continue service; - a high level of professionalism and moral qualities; - the ability to transfer the acquired experience to brothers and sisters upon return; - a valid biometric passport; - those who intend and are able to continue serving in the first two levels.
How is the selection of civilian participants for the project (volunteer doctors or medical support volunteers) carried out?
- In each project, we have up to 5% of participants from among volunteer doctors or medical support volunteers. If you are a volunteer of the Hospitallers volunteer battalion, we send a request to the head of your organization. If you are a medical support volunteer and can take on the needs of at least some of our participants after the project or know such people - send applications with a short description of your activities, contact details and links to social networks to dariya@repower.ngo and we will definitely consider each application.
How to get to the project?
- First of all, you can ask your senior management (commander, chief of medical staff) whether requests from the Onovlenie Charitable Foundation for trips for active military medics to Sweden, Denmark or Spain are received through the Command and if they are received - ask them to submit your application for one of such projects. If such a request does NOT come to your unit, please inform us by email at dariya@repower.ngo, indicating the type of troops, brigade, military unit and your phone number. We do not guarantee that you will be included in the project, but at least we will find out why there was no request for your unit. As of August 2024, military medics from 211 military units have already participated in our projects, so a considerable number of military institutions are already aware of our initiative.
Is it possible to get into the project twice?
- Currently, you can only participate in our projects once.
Do I need to use my vacation to go to your project?
- No, all servicemen go on official business trips.
Once our subscriber sent her husband, a doctor, a link to our project with the words "look, a project for people like you!", to which the husband smiled and said that he would never have such luck. And a few months later he told us about this conversation during one of the restoration projects abroad.
We plan to provide the necessary assistance to all active military medics. So if you meet our criteria and think that "they will never take me on such projects", our community of medics from previous projects will tell you "believe me, they will!)"
